About Me
Hi, I’m Becky Fowler, a proud lunch lady, nutrition nerd, mom of 3, and believer that great school meals can change lives. My path to school nutrition wasn’t a straight line; I earned my bachelor’s in Nutrition Science in my 30s, always drawn to child nutrition but unsure where it would lead. During my dietetic internship, I completed a rotation in school food service. A year later, I was asked to step in as director when the previous one retired. What started as a practical move quickly became a calling.
For 7 years, I served as Food Service Director of a public school, followed by 3 years with USDA Food & Nutrition Service. Along the way, I discovered my favorite moments weren’t in meetings or spreadsheets, but in the cafeteria, watching students try new foods or race down each day because it was their favorite lunch day. Those little moments remind me why this work matters.
I started Lunch Lady Innovations to bring that same joy and creativity to schools everywhere. I believe the best programs get back to basics: real food, made with love, by a team that listens to kids and isn’t afraid to try something new. My approach is collaborative, adventurous, and grounded in years of hands-on experience navigating federal guidelines while keeping food delicious.
Nobody loves the kids like lunch ladies and food dudes.....and I’m here to help districts feed kids well, boost participation, and reignite the pride in every cafeteria kitchen.
